Traditional Cobble Driveway - Malham

A traditional cobbled parking area constructed within the grounds of a 17th-century property near Malham in the Yorkshire Dales. Designed to provide additional usable parking while remaining sympathetic to its historic setting.

Locally reclaimed duck/scottish cobbles were individually laid alongside reclaimed Yorkstone flag detailing, creating a deliberately informal finish that feels appropriate to the age and character of the property.

The cobbles were traditionally brush pointed using NHL 5 lime mortar, allowing the new work to sit comfortably alongside the existing stonework and surrounding landscape.

Careful preparation, material selection and traditional construction methods were key to creating a durable surface without making the finished area appear overly new or engineered.

The aim was simple: create something functional that has "always" belonged.
