Country Estate Entrance - Coniston Shooting Ground

A new entrance designed and constructed to create a more defined and considered approach to Coniston Shooting Ground.

Reclaimed, estate sourced limestone was utilised to construct substantial gate pillars and traditional boundary walls, with reclaimed quoins and pier caps chosen to complement the character of the surrounding landscape and local architecture.

The wider entrance was improved through resurfacing, kerb detailing, traditional post-and-rail fencing and selective vegetation management, creating a practical and enduring entrance that feels established within its rural setting.

Carefully selected Betula pendula 'Fastiagiata' (columnar silver birch) were planted to form a subtle avenue along the approach, with a mature specimen silver birch introduced in the newly created paddock.

A combination of traditional materials and modern construction techniques allowed us to improve both the appearance and functionality of the entrance while retaining the character of the site.
